The Canadian Grain Commission is seeking input on a proposed change to the moisture shrinkage allowance for grain artificially dried at licensed primary elevators. The Canadian Grain Commission intends to continue regulating how moisture shrinkage allowances are calculated for grain artificially dried at licensed primary elevators but eliminate the 1.1 percent moisture rebound factor. The 1.1 percent would be replaced with reference to a moisture level of 0.1 percent below the fixed minimum tough moisture level specified for that grain in the Canadian Grain Commission Order: Off Grades of Grain and Grades of Screenings. This proposal is based on producer and producer organization requests and aims to ensure the relevancy and consistency of regulatory application.
This document will serve as the basis for a comment period ending October 30, 2009. Stakeholders are invited to communicate their positions to the Canadian Grain Commission.
Your input is valuable. The Canadian Grain Commission wants to hear your views about the proposal outlined in this document.
