Protocol for flaxseed shipments to the European Union

In July 2009, a commercial laboratory detected low levels of genetically modified material in Canadian flaxseed shipments to the European Union. As a result, Canadian flaxseed shipments to the European Union were effectively halted. In response, the Canadian Grain Commission and the Flax Council of Canada, along with other Canadian government departments and agencies have developed a protocol for sampling and testing shipments of Canadian flaxseed to the European Union.
