Western grain standards committee

The Committee

The Western Standards Committee consists of 12 grain producers, four Canadian Grain Commission staff (a commissioner, a grain inspector, a scientist and the Chair of the Grain Appeal Tribunal), two members nominated by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, one person nominated by the Canadian Wheat Board, two grain processors, two grain exporters, and not more than three others appointed by the Canadian Grain Commission.

The Western Standards Committee meets twice a year to recommend specifications for grades of grain, and select and recommend standard samples to the Canadian Grain Commission.
