Help page for the moisture content calculator for grains
Using the moisture content calculator
The calculator requires you to select the type of grain for which you would like to calculate a value. You may also be required to select the class of the grain chosen. For every calculation, the calculator provides the required sample size and calibration information for accurate results.
In certain cases, due to how rounding is handled, the online moisture contentcalculator will present a value that differs slightly from the moisture conversion tables for grains. In the event of difference, the moisture conversion tables for grains are to be taken as most accurate.
Before you start you will need the following information:
- Type of grain for which to calculate moisture content, including:
- Grain class. This is not required for all grains
- Test weight. This is not required for all grains and it is an optional entry
- Grain sample temperature in degrees Celsius
- Meter reading from the moisture meter dial
Steps for using the calculator:
- Access the moisture content calculator.
- Select the desired grain type, and then select Continue.
- Select the grain class information, if required, and then select Continue.
- Enter the required information (sample temperature, meter dial reading, and test weight) for the sample of grain to test.
- Select Calculate and the calculator will display the result for the entered information.
