Officials with the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries have accepted a sampling and testing protocol proposed by the Canadian Grain Commission and the Canadian flaxseed industry. Japanese officials may continue to test incoming flaxseed shipments for monitoring purposes, but mandatory import inspections will not be required.
This protocol is specific to bulk shipments of flaxseed destined for industrial or feed use, and incorporates an allowable tolerance of 1% for FP967 (Triffid).
The Sampling and Testing Protocol for Bulk Shipments of Canadian Flaxseed Exported to Japan for Feed or Industrial Use can be accessed on the CGC website at http://grainscanada.gc.ca/gmflax-lingm/japan-japon/stpfj-peevlj-eng.htm.
Any questions related to this memorandum should be directed to the office of the Chief Grain Inspector for Canada at (204) 983-2780.
