July 1, 2024 Barley, Canada Eastern Food Variety designation lists are being created for Barley, Canada Eastern Food.
August 1, 2024 No. 1 and No. 2 Peas, Canada Green The existing standard samples for No. 1 (2010) and No. 2 (2016) Peas, Canada Green are being repealed and replaced with new 2024 No. 1 and No. 2 Peas, Canada Green standard prints.

August 1, 2024 All grades of soybeans The Official Grain Grading Guide will be updated to clarify the assessment of seed coat discolouration in soybeans by:
  • updating to the definition of “stained and mottled”
  • changing “may be badly stained” to “may be stained” in the grade determination tables for No. 4 Canada and No. 5 Canada soybeans
  • updating the definition of colour to include new characteristic descriptions for “good natural colour”, “slightly stained” and “stained”
  • changing the name of the grading factor “Other colours or bicoloured other than mixed soybeans” to “Other colours”
  • adding new photographs to the web version to assist in the evaluation of seed coat discolouration
August 1, 2024 All grade determination tables in the Official Grain Grading Guide Grain grading factors for each grade and each type of grain will be listed in a row (horizontal) format instead of the column (vertical) format. Grain grades will be listed in a column. This change will be to the formatting only and won’t change any of the grading factors.
August 1, 2024 Order Respecting the Calculation of the Moisture Shrinkage for Grain The Order Respecting the Calculation of the Moisture Shrinkage for Grain that has been artificially dried is being updated to also be applicable at Canadian Grain Commission-licensed terminal elevators in both eastern and western Canada. Previously, the order only applied to Canadian Grain Commission-licensed primary elevators.
