Submit a technology project proposal
We are actively seeking to evaluate new technologies for objective grain grading based on established grading factors as determined by the Official Grain Grading Guide. Interested participants are invited to submit a proposal at any time. To be considered for projects beginning with the 2025 harvest, submit your request by April 30, 2025.

What we’ll do
Research and develop technologies and methods to measure grain quality, safety, and end-use functionality
Evaluate and validate new technologies, including technologies that demonstrate maturity but may not be trained for the Canadian context and fit-for-purpose technologies
Facilitate access to materials (subject to availability) for use by internal subject matter experts and/or external organizations to help evaluate technologies
Set standards and benchmarks for technology used in Canada’s grain quality assurance system
Share information with stakeholders that demonstrates the value, integrity, and accuracy of the grain quality assessment technologies.
Background
On November 19, 2024, the Canadian Grain Commission published the Grain Quality Technology Advancement Framework. This framework details our role in developing, evaluating, and adopting new technologies to ensure the Canadian grain quality assurance system is reliable and objective.
