Responsibilities of a licensed grain company

As a licensed grain company, your company must fulfill various day-to-day operational and reporting responsibilities. These responsibilities vary depending on your class of licence. Monthly reports of outstanding liabilities to producers must be submitted online to the Licensing and Security unit of the Canadian Grain Commission. All other reports are submitted online to the Statistics and Business Information unit. Weekly reporting periods are from Monday to Sunday inclusive. Licensees can submit their reports through their Canadian Grain Commission online reporting account.

Responsibilities by licence class

Licensees must post security to cover all eligible liabilities pursuant to the Canada Grain Act and Canada Grain Regulations. If a company is unable to pay producers, this security is divided among all producers owed money for their grain.
