Quality of western Canadian flaxseed varieties 2011

These data were obtained from the Grain Research Laboratory's 2011 Harvest Survey of western Canadian Flaxseed. This is an annual voluntary program; flaxseed samples are submitted to the Canadian Grain Commission throughout the harvest period by producers, grain companies and oilseed crushing companies.

Large variations in the numbers and the distribution of samples from the various varieties in any given year might not be completely representative of a given variety performance. These data are to be seen as indicators of variety's performances and are not "quality descriptions" of any registered variety.

This report was based on the analyses of composite samples made combining Flaxseed, No. 1 Canada Western/Canada Eastern (CW/CE) samples from the same variety by province. The quality parameters presented are oil, protein and fatty acid composition with iodine value.
